Cheap fragrances may have some people turning up their noses just because a bottle doesn't cost someone a whole day's pay. But that's unfair, especially with some of the so-called cheap fragrances that have been around for decades. These scents are worn by people their entire lives and they gain new customers with each generation. Designer perfumes are wonderful, but cheap fragrances have their place in your beauty and scent regimen.

It's widely held that younger people, particular those in their teen years and their 20s, gravitate toward cheap fragrances. But more mature people enjoy them, too. It's just that often more mature people wear them sparingly as they can usually afford the more expensive fragrances. Teenagers may be loath to spend $85 on 3.4 ounces of designer perfume, but $10 for a bottle of cheap perfume is just within their budget.

It's no coincidence that some of the cheap fragrances seem to be designed and marketed with teenagers in mind. Fun bottles shaped like an exclamation point, for example, is the design for Exclamation by Coty, a scent that's popular with the younger set. Designer perfume bottles are often round, square or rectangular with no real design to speak of. Of course, there are some brands like Marc Jacobs that often have shaped caps, like that on a bottle of Daisy perfume, but the designs are often more delicate and subtle rather than the bold colors and shapes of bottles of cheap fragrances.
If your favorite perfume is an $80 bottle of Dolce and Gabbana, you might wonder why you would benefit from buying a $15 bottle of Lady Stetson, or other cheap perfumes. Of course, it's not necessary. But if you can find cheap fragrances with some of the same tones as your more expensive designer scents, you can make the expensive fragrances last longer while still enjoying your favorite tones on a daily basis.

Cheap fragrances can certainly be a help, especially in rough economic times. A couple bottles of inexpensive perfume or cologne can stretch that expensive scent for much longer than normal. And you may even discover a new favorite among the less expensive brands. If your favorite designer fragrance has citrus or floral tones, for example, look for cheap fragrances with the same qualities.

If you don't want to spend a lot of time at a perfume counter, you can narrow your choices down by searching online. Many online stores have features that let you find different perfumes that have the same type of qualities. Find your favorite scent and then browse their recommendations. Don't buy without testing, though. Go to your favorite local store and really explore the different scents. Try a few and then give them 45 minutes or so to settle so you can really smell the base notes in the perfume.

Only then will you know how well you'll like the scents on your skin. You can get cheap fragrances online after you've tested them, and probably save even more on some great new-to-you perfumes.
