Cistus – This word is used to describe Labdanum perfume scents.

Citron – This is a type of citrus fruit tree that is often known as the cedrat lemon. It is not actually a true lemon, but it is related to both limes and lemons. The citron note is derived from the peel of the fruit, which is used in perfume scents.

Civet – A civet is a cat that resembles a fox and is related in family to the mongoose. The musk of a civet is produced through a gland at the base of the tail. Most modern perfume scents actually utilize a synthetic fixative that is meant to resemble natural civet musk.

Clary Sage – This is an herb that, when in essential oil form, is described as being both bittersweet and sweet in scent, and it has nuances of tobacco, hay and amber.

Clou de Girofle – This is the French word for clove perfume scents.

Coffret – This is the word for a gift box or a gift set. Coffrets may include a number of perfume scents, or a specific fragrance and accompanying body products.

Copahu Balm – This is also known as Copaiba basalm and is oil that is derived from the Copaifera family of trees. Copahu balm has a complex perfume scent that has been described as being mild, sweet and peppery.

Coumarin – This is a compound which can smell similarly to vanilla. It is typically derived from the Tonka Bean, however it can also be found in sweet grass, lavender and a number of other plants. It has been banned in the United States as a food additive because of toxicity issues, but it can be used in anti-coagulants, rat poisons and oddly enough, also as a valuable component in many perfumes and incense.

Cuir – This is the French word for leather perfume scents.

Cypriol – This is a type of essential oil that is derived from the Indian papyrus. Sometimes the Cypriol term is used in an interchangeable nature with the word papyrus when listing perfume notes.

Davana – This is an oil that is derived from the Artemisia pallens, and it is described to have an odor that is sweet and fruity in nature.

Elemi – This is a gum resin used in perfume scents that introduces a citrus like fragrance that is fresh, light and balsamic spicy.

Epices – This is the French word for spices, and is commonly used in describing perfume scents.

The Coco Perfume by Chanel is a perfume that has been around for a long time, having been released in the year 1984. Coco Chanel was a great and famous woman, and she inspired this perfume which was composed beautifully and exemplifies everything that Coco Chanel was really all about. This unique perfume comes packaged in an elegant black box with gold themes. The bottle is shaped as a square with a glass top although there is also a version of the bottle that is a tall rectangle featuring a black top. Both of the bottle designs feature the logo and designer titles. The perfume itself is a dark honey color, luxurious and spa like.

The Coco Perfume by Chanel is classic, mysterious, musky, charming, sexy and still largely modest despite it all. The fragrance has a scent to it that is decidedly oriental with spice and some floral to it. This is a concoction that includes orange blossom, mandarin orange, vanilla, jasmine and rose which exemplify all of the same traits as the woman herself. This is a floral oriental scent, not too sugary or sweet. It is a dreamy scent, but not too sweet or too overwhelming. This is a very diverse fragrance in comparison to Chanel No. 5. I find it to be significantly more corporeal in nature.

Coco Chanel was a charming, unique, gifted woman with so much culture and creativity, and the Coco Perfume by Chanel really exemplifies all of these traits in her. If you want to know what the woman was like, try a little Coco Perfume by Chanel and you will have a much better idea of who she was.

The Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance was originally released in 1982, and it happens to be the bohemian green chypre. She is capable of being not only beautiful but also irritating at the exact same time. The notes that the Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance has to offer include peach, bergamot, mugwort, marigold and mint, rose, jasmine, clove, ylang ylang, iris, patchouli, oak moss, sandalwood, vetiver, amber and also musk.

The Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance perfume comes on with a bit of a thick and green wallop that also feels as if you've been drinking black tea that you left steeping in the pot for far too long. The tannic and mineral smell that it offers reminds many of Azuree from Estee Lauder. Some people may say that the Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance perfume smells like pine, but it isn't pine that you're smelling, it's more of an herbal scent than a coniferous one.

Although it is claimed that you will find iris, jasmine and rose here, some people have trouble smelling these particular notes, perhaps because there are so many other strong scents mixed in which overwhelm the Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance perfume with a bit of a green, tannic and woody scent. Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance definitely hangs on to her unique fierceness, though as she dries down she offers a bit of a honey like note that gives this particular scent a bit of a youthful edge.

It is said that Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance smells at its best when on pigmented skin, capturing and moderating its power, but anyone can really appreciate the unique scent that this girl brings to the table. The Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance is based on the real Niki de Saint Phalle, who is an artist that was known primarily for her sculpture work, and the sales of the Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance helped to fund the Italian tarot scripture garden which is open to the public in beautiful Italy.

If you're looking for a real rock star of a perfume with plenty of unique notes and a sweet, spring time feel, then Niki de Saint Phalle Fragrance is a fragrance perfume worth keeping around.

First Citron Poivré (Spicy Lemon):

Notes: Essence of Lemon from Italy, Pepper, Pimento, Cloves and Cinnamon combined with the fresh tones of St. John's Wort from Paraguay, and African Geranium.

Citron Poivré  (Spicy Lemon):

This is lemon for grownups.  The first impression is sharp and clear, like fresh lemonade on a hot day, yet there is also a creaminess to it, as if it were a kind of lemon filling.  Almost immediately the spices kick in to take this from a citrus fragrance into territory a lot more complex and a little deeper.

What is it like?

This is black pepper for a pepper afficianado, for the perfumista who wants something out of the ordinary.

This is much spicier than the spices of lemon pepper chicken – there is far more pepper – and don’t forget the clove. (I used to love clove gum.)

There is also cinnamon (you know I like cinnamon.)   But the clove is more dominant.  And don’t forget the pimento.

Definitely the clove lasts throughout the fragrance.

What does it remind me of?

If you could imagine Guerlain’s Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat, which is a magnificent lemon, which, however, unfortunately only lasts 10 seconds, with clove and pepper, you might get a good idea of this fragrance.  And the lemon in CP lasts longer!

It reminds me a lot of Caron’s Coup de Fouet, the edp version of Caron’s perfume Poivre, both of which have a spicy hot pepper top note.  The perfume is both richer and deeper and a tad softer than the edp.

Whereas Caron’s has a rich floral heart and woody base notes, Citron Poivré (Spicy Lemon) begins with fresh lemon.

Both come down to a similar end, but Citron Poivré (Spicy Lemon) is softer than the explosiveness of Caron’s.  Caron’s is also sweeter.  Citron Poivré (Spicy Lemon) is much drier until the lemon kicks in (almost immediately.) And this lemon is both tart and sweet.

Caron’s stays longer – but remember I sprayed Caron’s, and I only dabbed from the sample of CP.

Who can wear this?

This could easily be worn by a man or a woman.

Is it modern or traditional?

I tend to think of it as modern because pepper and pimento are showing up in a lot of modern fragrances.  For example, Hermes Hermessences has Poivre Samarcande.  They also have Paprika Brasil that has both clove and pimento in it.

OTOH, everything old is new again, because Caron’s and LJR are from a different era, but still smell new and modern.  If my grandmother had smelled like this, I would still want to wear it.  It is not old fashioned.

Could you layer this?

Yes, if you wanted to add pepper, but didn’t want to overwhelm the other fragrance.  I would not, for example, layer Caron’s which would overpower whatever it was with.

What I like about it:

I liked it from the minute I applied it.  I like pepper, and I have both of Caron’s.  I wear them in the fall, or when I’m in the mood.  This would be a nice addition.  I do not have the Hermessences, but I have samples.

My take:

I give this fragrance a  4 out of 4.  I like it a lot.  I think I would enjoy spritzing this throughout the day, to boost the lemon as it softened.  I don’t think I would tire of it. (Generally I layer up in the day from my early morning fragrance into others as the day goes on, ending up with an evening fragrance at night.)
