Les Trois Roses - The Three Roses Rose Opéra - Rose de Mai - and Rose Thé are the three roses offered by Le Jardin Retrouve.
I earlier wrote about Rose Opéra and the interesting story behind it.
Next are Rose de Mai and Rose Thé.
Rose is a popular note for fragrances. Who hasn’t enjoyed the smell of roses fresh from the garden! Likewise, there have been interpretations in fragrance because of the beauty of the note.
There are likely as many ways to interpret rose as there are parfumers and types of rose, each with their own scent. You can find a partial list here: http://www.sniffapaloozamagazine.com/ROSE.html.
While they are all built around rose, some are more straight floral rose than others.
Some of the most well known floral rose fragrances are Yves St. Laurent’s Paris; Guerlain’s Nahema and Rose Barbare; Patou’s Joy; Stella; Malle’s Lipstick Rose; Bvlgari Rose; Ormande Jayne’s T’aif Rose; …You can find rose fragrances from the inexpensive to the expensive, across all price ranges, from department store to artisan.
Paloma Picasso is a chypre rose, not a floral, for example.
And if you are looking for what is called a dirty rose, then Voleur de Roses or Agent Provacateur.
It calls to mind the silly ditty from Singing in the Rain
Moses supposes his toses are roses.....but
Moses supposes erroneously.....
Moses he knowses his toses aren't roses......as
Moses supposes his toses to be."
A rose is a rose is a rose is a roses …
A rose is a rose, but they are not all equal!
Rose de Mai:

This is Yuri Gutsatz’ ode to the May rose or Rose Centifolia, and the Oriental Rose of Rose Damascena that cover entire fields in Bulgaria and Turkey.
This is the fragrance that represented for him the scent of the rose that is behind many rose fragrances.
Rose Thé (Tearose) :

This is the rose so often associated with the idea of roses and a rose scent.
Notes: the top note is green and the base note is reinforced by the presence of musk and slightly wood-like tones.
How do they compare to each other?
Rose Thé (Tearose) is greener and a tad sharper. Rose de Mai is sweeter. They are both heady.
My Take:
If you are a fan of true rose scents, Le Jardin Retrouvé’s three rose scents are very lovely. You would have to try all three to see which is your favorite – or you might find you want them all so that you have a wardrobe of rose scents.
Is it modern or traditional?
It is a classic traditional.
Could you layer this?
I think you could layer these with any fragrance to enhance the rose.
What I like about it:
These are easier for me to wear than some roses scents. Today these are staying true on me. Other roses usually turn sour or sharp on me.
What do you think?
Have you tried any of his fragrances? If you have, do you have a favorite? (If not: Ask Le Jardin Retrouvé for Free Samples - All around the world.) Can you wear roses – and do you? Learn more about Le Jardin Retrouve house and Yuri Gutsatz.
Best,
