Balsam of Peru – This is a tree resin that hails from Central America. It is named because it was initially shipped out of Peru. A closely related species is the Basalm of Tolu tree, which grows further south. Both of these resins are capable of smelling like a combination of cinnamon and vanilla.
Bay Rum – This is a traditional cologne for ment hat is made out of Pimenta racemosa leaves, or leaves from the Bay Rum tree that have been distilled in a mixture of water and rum.
Benzoin – This is a common perfume note that nails from balsamic resin derived from the Styrax tree.
Bergamot – Bergamot is one of the most common perfume fragrances, and it is a tangy oil that is expressed from the bergamot orange when it is nearly ripe. The bergamot orange is a bitter orange variety that is non edible. These oranges are grown primarily in Italy, and they are sometimes used to contribute to the flavor of Earl Grey teas.
Bigarade – This is another variety of the bitter orange that is also regarded as the Seville orange. This orange's zest is often used to make the bigarade note that is used in perfume fragrances.
Calone – This aroma chemical adds somewhat of a sea breeze note, so it is known for being used in marine-based perfume fragrances. Its first use was in Aramis New West back in the year 1988.
Cannelle – This is the French word for cinnamon.
Carambole – This is another name for star fruit, which is commonly used in many perfume fragrances.
Cashmeran – This is a perfume note that has a spicy, musky, ambery and floral odor to it. It is meant to add a velvety and powdery nuance while invoking a smell reminiscent of cashmere. Cashmeran is often listed as cashmere woods rather than as cashmeran.
Cassie – This is a floral perfume note of sweet acacia or acacia farnesiana, which is a member of the family of mimosa flowers.
Cassis – This is another name for the black currant, for a liqueur made out of black currant.
Castoreum – This perfume note is based on a secretion that comes from the Castor beaver, though now it is much more likely to be synthetic in nature. Castoerum is a perfume note that contributes a leather type aroma to a perfume fragrance.
Cedrat – This is a French term that is used to describe the citron perfume note.
Champaca – This is a flowering tree that hails from the magnolia flower and was typically found in India. It contributes to one of the main ingredients in floral perfumes and is also traditionally used in the creation of incense from India such as nag champa for example.
Chevrefeuille – This is the French word for the honeysuckle perfume note.
Coya Nakh – This is a smoky perfume note that is derived from the roasting of sea shells.
