There is a debate among the young folks and the old folks regarding which scent might be the most traditional and best for attracting the opposite sex. As a young child, I myself would sneak into my parents bathroom and splash a few drops of ‘Old Spice’ onto my neck and wrists, stolen from underneath that sink counter on my father’s side. The debate now, is whether if you wear the scent or not it will make you seem old and unattractive, or will it make you seem traditional and grounded.
Everyone is familiar with the pear-shaped, cream-colored bottle with the funny top that is known as ‘Old Spice.’ However, not everyone agrees that it is a scent that is flattering. When surveying a group of women online, a majority of them stated that if their man wears this scent, it is a sign that they are too old and too old fashioned. The response was that it was, “Terrible.” It is certain that the people who had decided to respond to these surveys weren’t a normal part of the ‘Old Spice’ purchasing demographics. However, that has nothing to do with the way that the company is trying to target a younger audience with their fragrance innovations.
Their traditional collection of fragrances are still available, however, there are some new additions such as ‘Pure Sport’ and ‘Fresh,’ which target a much more hip and youthful audience. The fragrances, however, aren’t the first thing that a young connoisseur might purchase; the body wash and anti-per spirants might hit their shopping carts more quickly. Either way, they still fall under the line of scents and fragrances that a young shopper might buy. Body sprays are also becoming more popular than the traditional cologne sprays as they are more affordable and more readily accessible. Old Spice features five different versions of their body spray collection with scents like ‘After Hours,’ ‘Aqua Reef,’ and ‘Swagger.’
It seems that the traditional view of what a common fragrance means is transforming into a more accessible and affordable commodity, one that can be purchased at your local sundries retailer rather than your upscale department store. That’s not the end to high-end retailers though; there are still quite a few really hot scents available for lower prices than normally expected. If the body wash or body spray is not the way you wish to go, check out the designer’s actual boutique. Most often than not, the prices to purchase a scent directly from them will be much cheaper than if you visit the larger department store. Also, the staff tends to know much more about the product and where it’s inspiration has come from. The overall experience might be more pleasant if you go directly to the source.
Also, see which designers are actually giving back to the community. You might wish to shop at these boutiques simply because of their desire to give something back to the people who live in your neighborhood. Wearing a fragrance that suits you while doing it for a good cause is always sexy.
