Hesperidia - In terms of perfume ingredients, this is a term that is meant to refer to citrus oils.
Immortelle - This is also known as strawflower or everlasting flower. The Latin name for this flower is helichrysum. It has a nearly bitter, herbaceous and greenish smell to it.
Indole - This is a chemical compound that smells somewhat floral at lower concentrations but fecal at higher concentration. It is used widely in the world of perfume ingredients, and is also found on a natural basis in some types of floral notes including orange blossom, jasmine and tuberose.
Iso E Super - This is an aroma chemical used in perfume ingredients that is described as being woody and amber with a velvet sensation. It is known for being a superb caliber floralizer and is often used in order to impart subtle strength and fullness to a perfume fragrance.
Kalamanzi - This is either an acid orange or a Panama orange, and it is a citrus fruit that has a sour flavor and that is said to resemble the cross between a lime and a mandarin orange.
Karo Karounde - This is a flowering shrub that comes from Africa. Its scent is said to be extremely potent in the wild, but it is said to be quite similar in nature to Jasmine but it is spicier, woodier as well as more herbal in nature.
Khus - This is an Indian term that is used to describe Vetiver and similar perfume ingredients.
Labdanum - This is an aromatic gum that comes from the rockrose bush and features a woody and sweet odor that is said to be capable of mimicking ambergris. This particular perfume ingredient is also said to be able to impart a leathery note.
Licorice - This is a shrub that is native to Asia and Europe, and its roots are used for flavoring and candy and are said to be as many as 50 times more sweet than sugar is.
Linden - Also known as lime blossom, this is a flower that comes from the Linden tree, and it is also known as Tilleul in French.
Mastic - Also known as lentisc, this is a plant resin that comes from a small and shrubby tree. Mastic tears, also known as chios tears, are raw resin crystals that are collected from this tree. Mastic has a variety of different uses including as a flavoring for liqueur, varnish and in perfumery as well.
Monoi - This word means scented oils when referring to perfume ingredients. It often refers to gardenia petals that have been macerated in the oil from a coconut. Another name for this is Monoi de Tahiti.
