The Hypnotic Poison perfume is a Eau De Parfum splash that Christian Dior originally introduced in the year 1998. It offers a woody and oriental fragrance that contains jasmine, musk, vanilla, caraway, bitter almond and amber notes. The Hypnotic Poison perfume is definitely intended for best use during romantic evenings. This is a perfume for women, and it is intended for any season.

Review Notes:

The Hypnotic Poison perfume was launched in 1998 by Christian Dior, coming four years following Tendre Poison, making this the third Poison blend. The Hypnotic Poison perfume was created by a perfumer named Annick Menardo, and the fragrance was designed around four different accords rather than sticking to the traditional pyramid of top notes, middle notes and bottom notes. The four accords are bitter almond and caraway, sambac jasmine, moss and jacaranda wood and musk and vanilla. The jasmine accord happens to be particularly potent in the Hypnotic Poison perfume blend, and it is also the link that ties it to the original Poison blend.

The Hypnotic Poison perfume was the first fragrance that was released after John Galliano joined Christian Dior in order to help to revitalize the fashion side of the company. The Hypnotic Poison perfume was meant to resonate well with his own modern and theatrical aesthetic and design, portraying women as being the eternal seductress making use of all of the various weapons of seduction in the process.

The Hypnotic Poison perfume definitely returns to its oriental theme roots, which were originally explored when the original Poison fragrance was released, but these two fragrances do not smell like one another in the least. Hypnotic Poison perfume is a creamy and sweet concoction containing vanilla sugar, musk and jasmine with a dash of spice and a truly velvety finish. There are nutty, woodsy undertones that temper this fragrance's sweetness in the perfect way. This is an edible type of fragrance without feeling overdone, and it does not smell too sweet or too young like many other gourmand fragrances. In other words, this is a fragrance that you can wear at any age, and for a wide variety of different occasions as well.

Although the Hypnotic Poison perfume is definitely a sexy scent, it is not as sexy as the original Poison, which is stiletto heels sexy, where as the Hypnotic Poison perfume is more or less staying at home in front of the fireplace with a lover. The Hypnotic Poison perfume blend comes in the Poison Amulets and it also comes in a standard 30 ml spray bottle. The spray bottle is the cheaper way to go, but the Poison Amulets are nice, especially for being a limited edition offering.
