What are the differences between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette, Pure Perfume and Eau de Cologne?
The difference between all of these types of fragrances is simply the amount of concentration of the oils that are present in the fragrance. Pure perfume is the highest concentration, followed by EDP or Eau de Parfum, and then EDT or Eau de Toilette, and then EDC or Eau de Cologne. Eau de Toilette and cologne are often interchangeable, especially when it comes to men's perfume fragrances.
What are Notes?
Every fragrance is comprised of a number of different scents, and these are referred to as notes. Top notes are light notes that only last for between 5 and 10 minutes. The middle notes become more apparent within 15 minutes following application and they can last for an hour or more. The bottom notes or the base notes tend to be the heavier ingredients, and they can last for several hours at a time.
How can a fragrance be made to last longer?
Fragrances are capable of lasting longer on certain people than on other people. If you have oily skin, you will likely hold a scent longer than someone that has dry skin. It would be wise for you to attempt moisturizing your skin before you apply your first perfume. If you want to achieve an even longer lasting effect, it would be wise for you to attempt layering your fragrance. You can achieve this by using a shower gel, then a moisturizer, then an after shave or a powder and then a perfume, using the same fragrance for each of the layers. You should also apply the fragrance low on your body so that it can be allowed to rise. Another idea is to spray perfume in your hair as it will generally last all throughout the day this way.
How can a fragrance be kept from going bad?
You should try to keep all of your fragrance bottles in an area that is both cool and dry, and you should try to keep all of your fragrances out of the direct sunlight. Exposure to direct sunlight can cause the various ingredients in your fragrances to become unbalanced, destroying the balance of the scent. If kept in the right atmosphere, your fragrances can last for a good long time and bring you plenty of joy.
